DownTown

A couple months ago (the week I got my 85mm to be precise) the weather was doing a typical Georgia spring teaser and I was dying to take some pictures. My friends Scott and Caroline happily agreed to meet me downtown in less than two hours. They were great sports despite the short notice and my needing a learning curve for my new lens. I held off on posting these to be sure they would be able to get full use of them on their save-the-dates and such but three months later I still couldn't be prouder of these photos. My favorite part of working with them was that Scott couldn't his eyes off Caroline and she could't stop smiling and laughing. It's obvious how completely in love they are and I am so proud that  my work got to be included in their steps to the special day.

Finally, I need to brag on this bag I bought from Darby Mack on Etsy. I have been hunting for a bag I could carry while shooting, that would actually protect my gear, and that wouldn't look like typical camera bag.
The camera/lens padded insert can come out and so you can wash the whole bag and it has plenty of pockets inside for SD cards and batteries. Personally, I think the the two extra lens it claims it can carry is pushing it. I will probably only carry one extra lens because it's plenty snug in there already.

Waiting Room

My dad is the hospital right now so we are spending most of our time there leaving me little room for photography till I finally just started taking pictures there.

They have tons of these at the children's hospital and you always see little kids going by on them. At this point it was about 9 at night the children's waiting area was pretty quiet.

And this is a boyfriend who really didn't want their picture taken.

On a lighter note, my sister showed me this video...

Changes

So, slowly but surely I am making changes around here *Cue the opening to the famous David Bowie song*

Starting with the name. I realize changing the name of a blog is strongly advised against but I predict the handful of people that keep up with my blog will have no trouble redirecting themselves.
I had known I wanted a different name for some time but struggled with what this change would be. Combing through the English language  it was obvious no word in my native tongue would suffice. My next stop was Spanish, nothing popped out there even though I love the language so much. Greek, Hebrew, and Arabic? While they fascinate me I can't deal with a different alphabet. Somewhere in this time I was beginning to feel the need to make up my own word. Blame it on an early childhood Tolkien obsession but I loved the idea of my words.
Because photography is "drawing with light" and that is a concept I am in love with I looked up light in other languages. I found that in French light is "lumière" pronounced lu-mee-air. This word I liked. It was pretty and unrestraining for any growing my blog would do in the future. But it still needed to make it my own.
The rest was pretty simple. The last part of the word reminded me of my middle name, I've always liked my middle name because I felt the world has put forth much more interesting Marie's than Leah's.
So LUMARIE was born.  I love it. While I have found there are a surprising amount of people actually named Lumarie, there has not been too many photography related things on Google (trust me everything has been thought of when it comes to photography).

Lumarie

And in the spirit of changes a couple weeks ago I did senior portraits for Jamie. I was elated when she asked asked me to because I LOVE this girl's freckles. Her personality is completely easy going and she was up to whatever I asked.  Her pictures turned out beautiful and I could post all ninety-something and be completely proud but I won't  :) I know she will rock college and life in general so I am grateful I got to document this final high school achievement.

PhotoDump {SpringBreak Edition; Volume 1}

I am on Spring Break and so far it has been it's exhausting and fantastic. I have never been the type to actually do fun things during Spring Break, so this has been a change for the better.

On Saturday we had the The Color Run.

Early morning but he was a trooper.

Some preColor pictures. I really liked these headbands.

Found Stephen...

Someone who shall remain nameless HAD to take a bathroom break about 200 yards into the race... So we took pictures without her.

I kept my phone in a plastic baggie, it made it sort of haze on the pictures. Maybe it looks intentional.

Tyler really excited to turn pink

The color tastes awful... Stephen ate it anyway
The best running/walking buddies

One of my fav pics ever :)

Chelsea birthday was actually today but we celebrated early. Somehow I am not in procession of any of Chelsea and I actually together.

Man Picture...

Caroline, Katie, and I went to Tybee Island. It was gorgeous and the weather was absolutely perfect. We fried but I loved it and the smell of suncreen set my longing for summer at full speed.

Tomorrow I am heading to Dnow in Sandersville. I am pumped for the last few days of break but seriously sad break will end.

Finally, here is Tyler's current favorite song
