Smiling All Weekend Long

This past weekend was one of my busiest ever. But it was completely grand. I don't normally look back on a weekend and think it was absolutely great but this one really was.

First I drove to Atlanta by myself for the the first time. I was nervous and obnoxiously proud of my achievement. I picked Tyler up with my friend Stephen by way of the large train system that goes through Atlanta. We have had a large discrepancy over if it is pronounced. MARTA or The Mar-TA. This has yet to be resolved.

Tyler from Texas likes to pronounce his Ts
That we went to see the Hunger Games. Sadly we did not think to take pictures because this was fun night. The movie did not disappoint and I hoping to go see it again soon.
And I seriously loved Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss.

The next day we took it easy and spent the whole day with Tyler's family.

Chillin' with Uncle TyTy after a nap.
Locked out and thrilled about it.

Millie's Determination to get to the door was fun watch and I experimented with the editing of these.

Reaching....
Almost got it...
HA! Success!
A lesson in thunder and why it doesn't have to be "cairy"
The next day was the walk. Despite early morning van failure my dad made it to the see all his friends. Even though the walk is always stressful I would't trade the day of for anything. It chance for my dad to be reminded that we are all still behind him and for me to see how a guy who washed dishes can affect lives.

This is my uncle John's photo. Him being there meant so much to my dad.
Hopefully I'll be able to give a more complete blog on the walk later.

Spring Break Ahead

Recently I had the pleasure of spending time with Tyler's niece and nephew. Small children is still an area where I lacking photo skills so I brought my camera.
This picture comes to mind as I sit at school and avoid all the work I have to do before spring break and I just keep looking out the window.
I know how you feel Millie Kate, I know how you feel.

Family Band

They aren't really a band but they have the talent for it and they most definitely look the part. These guys have been great friends to my family since 9th grade when Christine and I had a math class together. Many people told I needed to befriend this girl because we had a lot in common. I creeped on her MySpace and decided that she was "too pretty to be a nice girl." Well, I was totally wrong they are all drop dead gorgeous and some of the godliest people I know.
Just a disclaimer I didn't enhance their eyes at all this "staring into your soul blue" thing is really how their eyes are.

I have no idea whether it's a building or trees the sun is shining through but I think it's so cool.

Patty Cake and Swing Sets

Kayla and Kyle have been dating for over a year now and are completely precious. Going through the pictures the tough part is finding ones where Kayla isn't laughing her head off. It made me so happy to be around people who clearly are crazy about each other.
This is one of my favorite pictures ever I just can't get over it.

By the Boardwalk

So when I found out I was going to get to take these pictures I felt like I was getting to take pictures of a celebrity. At least of Brian. Stephen I forced to take pictures before so that's pretty normal. But their family is pretty darn attractive.

...And I am Undone

The day has FINALLY come. The Passion "White Flag" CD was released. I am taking the long route home just to sing-a-long with these songs for a few minutes more.

It is brings back so many memories and makes me miss those few days even more.

This song by David Crowder is my favorite. It's powerful and just plain floors me.

My favorite line is "In the middle of the night, all this light." It reminds me of this picture that Tyler took during a storm. It never crosses my mind to take my camera outside during a storm much less at night. The word Photography is derived from greek and ultimately means "drawing with light." How beautiful does that sound?!
During her talk Christine Caine told the story of taking one her daughters to Walmart to buy a flashlight. Her daughter turned on her light in the store but realized she could not properly see the brightness of her light so she turned to her mom and said "Mom, we need to find some darkness so I can see my light."
This little girls words apply to all of us, especially me. I am often drawn to the golden and sunny days convinced this is best place to find light.
But where we need to go to see the true majesty of light manifested is where it's dark.

John 8:12 - When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

It's a Shur Shot

My mom has been asking me for weeks, to clean out our guest bedroom. Then she told me that my grandma's old camera was somewhere in there. So then I actually agreed to it. Chelsea came over to help and largely to keep me on track.
First we found hundreds of pictures. Many of them very old black and whites that had nearly turned brown. I didn't recognize most of them people in them but it made me more confident that the camera that took them might be in there as well.
Next we found an hat from Germany that my dad had.

She is yodeling.

After boxes upon boxes of baseball cards and my grandma's paintings, I was starting to think the camera didn't really exist and my mom just wanted to trick me into clearing through these containers.
BUT I finally found the box and I was ecstatic. This is the camera it contained.

I did a little googling to learn more about it. I remember this camera always being on my dad's desk but I didn't realize it was a camera. Finding it was a highlight of my day/week/month/year/life. When my grandma died I was given her Bible and art notebooks so this camera completes my memories of her.

Following this fantastic day. We had dinner in honor of Kayla's boyfriend Kyle being home. But really the whole time was watching the Coco show. Not Ice T's wife. The dog.

Internal Alarm Clock

This morning I woke up at 7:45 and couldn't go back to sleep. I was very annoyed with myself but I decided to just get my camera out and see what I could find.

Pixie, our cat, is a big deal in this house. My family is a classic case of people who think their pet is the greatest and everyone should be extremely interested in Pixie as well.
But in all seriousness she is so stinking cute.

Look at those claws, scary.
My mom is big on making request for pictures. Last night she asked for a picture a pretty apple that a friend of ours grandmother had brought us.

I think this mint green table is awesome. My mom is the queen of saving old cool pieces like this. All that grandma furniture that people gave to yard sales in the 90's my mom still has. She also has discovered online shopping, which has allowed her farm table vibe to flourish.

Little Bit of Life

I want to take more pictures of day to things. I have gotten so used to only pulling out my camera when people ask for them that I have found I shoot less and less for myself. Even if this means pulling out my phone more I don't ever want to stop taking pictures.
My mentor took Easter pictures for a mother's day out and so I got to play with bunnies for the past two days :)

My dogs act so bored sometimes. Rocky's glum look was cracking me up

Songs about food.

I love to sing even though I am terrible, I seriously have no musical skill at. But ever since I started teaching preschool my constant singing has gotten worse. I'm assuming it's because music seems to be the absolute most effective way to keep a three year olds attention. Also, I love songs about food. This is a great one that the kids always request.

So, since I love songs about food, it's only natural that I love country. (I am really a very simple person) The first CD my dad ever made me was in about 3rd or 4th grade and both of these songs were on it.

While babysitting I found one of my new favorite songs. Fast forward this video to about 6:28 and you know what has been stuck in my head for days

I'm completely agree. Macaroni and Cheese is completely suitable for three meals a day. Also I am currently on the hunt for an amazing macaroni and cheese reciepe. I'm all about Velveeta and occasionally Kraft when I'm in the mood but  a good homemade Mac'n'cheese would be nice. If anyone has any suggestions let me know otherwise I'll let ya'll know if I find a fantastic one.

Headshots

I have never taken pictures of just a guy before so when Cameron said he needed pictures for his portfolio, so I took full advantage. His nickname is Simba which I think completely awesome and accurate.

"Can I take a picture with the canon?"  "This is a Nikon."

Chelsea reprised her role as reflector holder and had on a cute outfit so we took her picture too.

This just makes me laugh.
